“Design/Build” is the modern term used to describe the time-honored practice of hiring a Master Builder. Since ancient times, the Master Builder was solely responsible for both the design and construction of building projects. How is Design/Build different from hiring an architect?

Design/Build involves one contract that covers your entire project. By contrast, when you hire an architect, you enter into a Design-Bid-Build process that involves multiple contracts: one with the architect and a separate contract with the low bidder for construction.
